Comment Print

CHICAGO- and Nashville-based PE Shore Capital Partners -- a deal producer dubbed "Founder Friendly" by Inc. five years running -- announced its Agentis Longevity platform is now established in Nashville and focused on "advancing comprehensive longevity healthcare."

The 2024 Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies included 20 businesses in Shore's portfolio.

That ranking, plus news of the new platform's debut, suggest to us it's time for a look under the hood of the disciplined, process-driven, network-leveraging tactics contained within the "Shore Playbook," by which the PE vows to make companies "Bigger.Stronger.Faster."

The state of play: Agentis has signaled it aspires quickly to become the "North Star" for longevity-focused providers and patients.

In line with that, Agentis says it aims to do nothing less that "redefine healthy aging" through a network that provides services designed to extend "health span, optimize vitality, and address age-related conditions," in-line with "the growing theme of consumerization in healthcare."

Shore's platform priorities span: Longevity + Anti-Aging; Detoxification; Stress + Emotional Health; Gut Health; Hormone Health; Immune Health; Brain Health; Heart Health, Sleep; Movement; and, Nutrition.

Agentis's FAQ explains it exists to support its clinic partners by offering "comprehensive platform management services, including operational support, marketing, clinical standardization, technology integration, and access to growth capital. Our goal is to empower clinics to focus on providing excellent care while we handle the business complexities."

In Shore CP's Dec. 12 press release, the advocates emphasize "delivering comprehensive care to its patients, including hormone optimization therapy, detailed health testing, weight management, peptides, stem cells and other innovative therapies."

Agentis's website emphasizes, "Agentis Longevity does not treat patients directly. We are a platform management organization that supports longevity-focused healthcare clinics. Our role is to provide operational, strategic, and clinical excellence resources, enabling our clinic partners to deliver exceptional patient care."

Management makes clear it plans to drive the Agentis platform's expansion nationwide via strategic acquisitions and clinic openings and is now actively seeking partnerships with parties that "prioritize innovation and patient outcomes." Inquiry form here.

JIMMY ST LOUIS

Jimmy St Louis

As quarterback of the Agentis team, Shore Capital has tapped CEO James "Jimmy" St Louis MBA, who seems likely to split time among his Tampa home, Nashville and other markets.

The platform's Nashville office is to be in Cummins Station.

CEO St Louis, 43, has previously led health- and wellness-sector businesses including Regenerative Medicine Solutions (RMS); and, AliRx (fka Cognitive Health and Wellness Institute), which provided personalized food prescriptions. Circa 2011, St Louis started and later sold Lung Health Institute to RMS.

Earlier in his career, St Louis was also CEO of Franchise 123, a franchise-market platform; and, COO of Laser Spine Institute (acquired by above-mentioned RMS).

Beginning early in life, St Louis's long-standing personal fitness commitment and competitiveness led to playing tight end for the Tennessee Titans and a USRowing membership.

Along the way, the now-CEO also earned bachelor's and master's-level degrees and certificates from Auburn University, Murray State University, Villanova University and Harvard University.

In 2023, the CEO shared his views on fitness, competitiveness, success and related matters via the substantive "Mindset Experience" and "HelloHealth" podcasts. In 2013, he did this CrossFit podcast.

AGENTIS TEAM

Agentis's SVP Finance is Nashville-based Henry Gerrity MBA, who joined in September and was previously senior director for financial planning and analysis for Nashville-based Tend (fka NOHO Dental).

Rachel Garrison

The platform's Nashville-based CXO and chief of staff is Rachel Scott Garrison MBA, previously a Deloitte senior consultant.

Agentis' independent members of its board: Dino Eliopoulos, CEO of Behavioral Innovations; David Barr, Lead Independent Director of Empower Aesthetics; Dylan Jackson, COO of BrightView; George Koveos, COO of Mixlab; Stephen Klasko DSc MD, Executive in Residence at General Catalyst; and, Sara Szal Gottfried MD, at Thomas Jefferson University Sidney Kimmel Medical College.

Argentis directors also include Nashville-based SCP Partner Chris Mioton MBA and the Michael Burcham DHA MBA, who is also Shore Capital's chief of strategy and development.

Mioton was quoted saying in the recent release, "We believe that the early-stage growth of the consumer longevity market presents an opportunity to become a national leader. By combining cutting-edge services and products with robust clinical practices and education, we see a tremendous opportunity to shape the future of longevity healthcare."

In the same release, Chicago-based Shore VP Logan Pitts said, "The goal of Agentis is to empower patients to take ownership of their health to live longer, happier and healthier lives," said Logan Pitts, Vice President at Shore. "We've found that American consumers are increasingly motivated to prioritize proactively managing their health, whether it be how they feel or how they look, and we are excited to announce another Shore platform investment aligned with the growing theme of consumerization in healthcare."

SHORE GAINS GROUND

The PE firm was founded in 2009 and says it now has 68 platform companies, 17 realized investments, and assets under management (AUM) currently at about $11.4BN, according to its website. See its portfolio.

That's AUM figure is up from the $9.1BN estimated in a Shore release posted just 85 days ago, on the occasion of Shore's closing of three funds that drew an aggregate $1.9BN or more in commitments.

Shore Capital targets industries it believes are "primed for growth": Healthcare, Food & Beverage, Real Estate, Business Services, and Industrials.

Targets are characterized as "proven, successful private companies with superior management teams, stable cash flow, and significant potential to grow through industry consolidation and organic growth to generate value for shareholders."

Agentis is the most recently announced platform extension in the Shore Capital universe.

Earlier this year, Shore highlighted two additional platform launches.

In August, Shore announced launch of ONDEX Automation, its Chicago-centered platform for factory automation integration, which completed a transaction with LIVE Automation, Sterling, Mass. ONDEX is led by CEO Justin Kerr.

Shore subsequently announced formation of its Nashville-based Innovate 32 dental-services platform, which recently announced partnering with Murfreesboro-based Rachel Johnson & Associates, a provider of general dentistry and cosmetic services. Innovate 32 is led by locally based CEO Josh Johnson MBA.

Justin Ishbia

Shore Capital's founding partners are Justin Ishbia JD, John Hennegan, Mike Cooper and Ryan Kelley.

Shore's Nashville complement includes Michael Burcham and John Murdock, both members of Shore's Portfolio Performance Group. The firm's Nashville Executive Network includes Nashville-based Stryker Warren, among others.

NOTES:

The Oct. 29, 2024 USPTO trademark application for Agentis shows the owner of the mark as SCP Longevity Services LLC in Chicago. The same filing identifies DLA Piper attorneys as counsel.

VNC research indicates the CEO's father, James St. Louis Jr. O.D., was in 2005 a surgical co-founder of Laser Spine Institute (LSI), as well as a U.S. Army medical-corps veteran. LSI ceased operations in 2019. The father and son apparently differ on use of a period (.) after "St".

In 2023, Jimmy St Louis shared his views on fitness, competitiveness, success and related matters via the substantive "Mindset Experience" and "HelloHealth" podcasts. In 2013, he did this CrossFit podcast. VNC
