Pierry spoke with Venture Nashville during this weekend's game hackathon held as part of the 2017 Global Game Jam. The Nashville event was hosted at The Wond'ry innovation center at Vanderbilt University.

Justin Giles, owner of Greenrift Software and a key coordinator of the event for organizer NashvilleGameDev.org, said it drew 15 teams, with about total 100 team members, most of whom were from Middle Tennessee, although developer Benjamin Davis, whose dayjob is with the Michael's retain chain, motored nearly six hours from Johnson City.

The "Wave" theme was the only criterion imposed on game=making teams, and games involved shark attacks, sound-waves, active shooters attacking supposed U.S. Navy personnel, surfing amid sharks, among other variations.

In addition to Greenrift and the Wond'ry, sponsors for this weekend's event included Nashville Software School, Ariton Games, The Curb Center at Vanderbilt, LunarLincoln, Wowium Studios, NPALL Audio and NOCTIS Games. VNC
